Pace of Play

  • Players must hole out on each hole.  Reference: USGA Rule 3.3 – When a Hole Is Started but Player Does Not Hole Out

   https://www.usga.org/handicapping/roh/Content/rules/3%203%20WhenHoleStartedbutPlayerDoesNotHoleOut.htm

To maintain pace, players may pick up and record a maximum score on a hole

  •  If you “X” out on a Hole you are still eligible for closest-to-the-pin and skins

  • But are disqualified from gross and net score contests

Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds

  • This local rule allows a player to continue play without returning to the previous stroke location

  • For instance, a player may drop a ball within two club-lengths, but not nearer the hole, of the nearest edge of the fairway at an equal distance from the hole to where the ball was believed to be lost or went out of bounds and add two penalty strokes. This Local Rule may not be used: 1) if a provisional ball is in play, or 2) for a ball in a penalty area, or 3) for an unplayable ball.

Preferred Lies

  • Preferred lies are automatic when “Cart Path Only” is in effect

  • May also be declared by the Tournament Chair on the day of play

  • Procedure:

    • Applies to closely mown areas (fairway height or less)

    • Not in a bunker, penalty area, or on the putting green

    • Ball may be lifted, cleaned, and placed within one club length

    • Not nearer the hole

Posting Scores

To ensure accurate handicap calculations and fair competition:

  • Keep two scorecards per foursome

  • Write players’ names in the same order as the pairing sheet

  • Record the number of strokes on each hole (do not record +/− par)

  • Circle birdies and mark CI for chip-ins

  • Verify both scorecards match hole-by-hole and totals

  • All four players must attest and sign the scorecard

Important:

  • If scores are disputed, the score you attested to will be used for posting

  • Take a screenshot of your scorecard so scores can be posted hole by hole

  • Scores must be posted before midnight on the day of play:

https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/handicapping/world-handicap-system/world-handicap-system-usga-golf-faqs/faqs---what-is-the-playing-conditions-calculation--pcc--.html

  • Post scores Hole by Hole, as an Away score, not Competition

Failure to Post by Midnight:

  • If score is not posted by midnight, a reminder will sent by the Handicap Chairperson

  • If not posted within one week, the Handicap Chairperson will post the score and you will not be eligible to participate in sidepots in the next tournament that you play.
